With the ninth largest airline in the world, a worldwide ocean freight network and an extensive ground transportation fleet, we've got what it takes to get the Games moving.

Before the Games close, we expect to handle millions of separate items. Aside from athletic equipment, that will include tens of thousands of pieces of athletes' luggage, and hundreds of tonnes of television broadcast equipment.

Tracking tonnes of inventory

Getting the myriad pieces of athletic equipment, personal belongings and infrastructure to London is just one part of the puzzle. The Games are meticulously staged, and many thousands of items must be warehoused, inventoried and tracked until they are required at the appropriate venues. And UPS technology makes it all possible.

Putting the pieces together

After transporting, inventorying and storing millions of pieces, the final and most critical phase is getting them where they are supposed to be, when they are supposed to be there.

The work began even before we were named the Official Logistics and Express Delivery Supporter in 2009. We put together a dedicated planning team that includes experts in transportation, human resources, technology and security. At our Logistics Centre, the UPS logistics team will use leading-edge technology to maintain total control and visibility for everything necessary to make the Games happen.

Sending the Games home
